You’ve already done the part no one else can do. You’ve lived the experience, made the decisions, and earned a point of view worth sharing. Our work begins by getting close enough to understand it.
You bring the authority that comes from having been there. We bring a collaborative process to uncover what matters, give it shape, and make it compelling to someone who hasn’t.
The strength of your book comes from what we can do together. Here’s how that takes shape.
1. Find the book
You may arrive with a clear idea or a collection of experiences you haven’t quite connected. We begin with a conversation about what you know, what you hope to create, and why it matters now.
Through our discovery process, we look closely at the knowledge you’ve earned, the convictions behind your decisions, and the stories you may no longer recognize as remarkable. We ask questions that help you get beyond the familiar telling and see what your experience can offer someone else.
From there, we clarify who your book is for, what it promises that reader, and the central idea that will hold it together. Before the writing begins, we clarify each other’s responsibilities, the schedule, and the publishing path, so you know what to expect and when.
2. Gather the sources
Much of your book may already exist in conversations, presentations, interviews, emails, notes, or stories you tell without thinking much about them. We help you gather that material and build on it through focused interviews.
Your job is to show up ready to think, remember, and speak honestly. Ours is to ask useful questions, follow the unexpected answer, and recognize when a passing comment deserves another hour of conversation.
As we go, we organize your stories, ideas, records, and research into a working archive. It becomes the foundation for your book and a resource for the work that can follow.
3. Build the architecture
A reader needs a reason to turn each page. Together, we shape the path that makes that happen.
We develop the chapter structure, decide where your strongest stories belong, and identify the evidence and explanation each idea needs. We also find the gaps: a claim that needs support, a moment that deserves more detail, a question your reader will want answered.
You can see how your book will work before we draft it in full. The structure gives us a shared direction while leaving room for discoveries along the way.
4. Calibrate your voice
Someone who knows you should be able to open your book and recognize you. Someone meeting you on the page should get a real sense of what it’s like to be in conversation with you.
That takes more than picking up your favorite phrases. We listen for how you think, where your humor lives, what you notice, and how you make a difficult idea clear.
We develop a representative passage, read it aloud, and work through it with you before moving into full drafting. Your response helps us hear what belongs and what doesn’t. The aim is for your book to feel like a natural extension of your presence: familiar to the people who already follow you, unmistakable to those discovering you for the first time.
5. Write, edit, and approve
With the structure and voice established, we develop your manuscript through writing, review, and revision.
You read, respond, and help us sharpen the work. You tell us where something feels right, where the meaning has shifted, or where there’s more to the story. We handle the writing and editing, return to the source material, check facts, and keep the whole book in view.
We also pay attention to what can come out. Sometimes a story grows stronger when the explanation ends sooner and the reader has room to recognize something from their own life.
The review process is defined at the outset. You remain involved in the decisions that matter, and you give final approval to the manuscript that will carry your name.
6. Produce, publish, and launch
Once you approve your manuscript, we carry it through the production and publishing work defined in your engagement.
That can include cover and interior design, ISBN and metadata, printing, distribution, audiobook production, and launch support. We help coordinate the details and guide you through the decisions, keeping the finished book consistent with the care that went into writing it.
Your publishing path serves the purpose we established together: who you want to reach, how you want to reach them, and what you want your book to make possible.
The partnership can keep growing
By the time your book is finished, we’ve developed something valuable alongside it: a deep working knowledge of your voice, your vision, and the ideas you want to put into the world.
That understanding makes ongoing content work more efficient and more precise. At your direction, we can draw from your source archive to develop articles, speeches, newsletters, podcast and video content, social posts, curriculum, or future books. You can give us a specific assignment without having to explain yourself from the beginning.
Those projects are scoped with you as you choose them. The capacity to support them is built throughout the book process.
You leave with a book worthy of your name—and a creative partner who understands what you mean when you say, “Here’s what I want to do next.”
